Excessive sweat treatment with Botox
It is natural to sweat and production is one of the body’s mechanisms for regulating body temperature. Sweat odor arises from a chemical reaction between bacteria in the skin, and the sweat itself is odorless. However, some people sweat profusely, which can be an annoyance and inhibitory in everyday life. Often the customer’s sweating tendency is localized to the armpit, but one can also sweat on the back, abdomen and shoulders, which we can significantly reduce with our sweat treatment.
The treatment will be performed by Inviocare’s nurses in the armpit and the other areas will be our specialist, Michael Heidenheim, who has more than 25 years of experience from hospitals with the treatment of dermatological disease conditions.
High sweating can be a great nuisance for the individual in close contact with others, and we therefore use Botox to treat people with increased sweating. Botox is a product that contains botulinum A toxin. The substance has been used since the 80s to treat just increased sweating, but is probably best known for the use of cosmetic wrinkle treatments. The doses used for sweat treatment are quite small and completely harmless.
The actual treatment and the product
Botox is injected with a thin needle in the skin areas where the excessive sweat appears. The result will show after a few days and lasts at least 7 months. Afterwards the treatment is typically repeated. It is clinically proven that 5% will not achieve full response. This means, for 5% the treatment only lasts for one month.
With a very thin needle, Botox is placed under the skin. The treatment takes about 15 minutes and is almost painless.
Botox is based on protein substances. The protein does not accumulate in the body as it is naturally excreted in the urine. Therefore, you can easily repeat the treatment as needed.
Sometimes you can see small marks around the stitches after treatment, but it is completely harmless and can be remedied with a little ice on the area. Any redness or swelling disappears quite fast, usually within an hour and maximum within a few days.
